This is the second national study in recent months to feature GEO’s school!
The Center on Reinventing Public Education, one of the nation’s leading education research organizations, released a new study today focusing on career and technical education schools across the country and featured GEO’s 21st Century Charter School in Gary, Indiana. Authors of the study did an exhaustive search and review of hundreds of schools across the country and narrowed their report to include only 32 programs. 21st Century Charter School is the only program/school in Indiana to be included in the study. You can access the CRPE study by clicking on this link.
This is the second nationally-recognized think tank to produce a study on GEO’s 21st Century Charter School this year. The American Enterprise Institute released a report in May on our college and career readiness program. You can access AEI’s study by clicking on this link.
It is great to see the attention our Gary school is receiving from nationally respected research organizations this year. Today, we are expanding our model to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. However, we are not satisfied with our results. We know we can do better and we are committed to getting better every day.
Above, is a picture of many of our incoming 9th graders in Gary, Indiana who are spending part of their summer already taking a real college course. And below, is a picture of our incoming 9th graders in Baton Rouge who are also taking a real college course this summer.
We believe in our students and their abilities to do more in high school than tradition expects. Set the bar high, provide the support, and see how high they jump. Our students exceed our wildest expectations all the time!
P.S.: It was a year ago today that Raven Osborne, a 21st Century Charter School 2017 alum and the nation’s first high school student to earn a full bachelor’s degree while in our high school, addressed the national charter school association conference in Austin, TX. She has inspired a whole new generation of students seeking to accomplish the same goal. I look forward to introducing you to them in the near future.
