Amy Zahner

Fourth Grade Teacher

Ms. Zahner attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Il where she majored in elementary education. While at Illinois College, she served as the President of Tomorrow’s Teachers, an organization that offers free tutoring twice a week to K-8 graders. Additionally, she was the Co-Leader of Best Buddies, an organization that fosters unity between the community and individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She was also the Service Chair of Circle K International where she nurtured leadership development and service by planning and implementing civic engagement activities. Furthermore, she volunteered through various non-profit organizations aiding the homeless and food insecure in San Francisco, CA. Lastly, she served as the Student Director of the IC Connections Program where under the Assistant Dean of Students, she hired, led, and trained a diverse team of 25 student Connections Leaders in areas such as peer-leadership, team-building, and multicultural awareness.

In her own words, "Seeing the success and growth of my students each day motivates me to do more and to be more for them. I'm motivated to be a positive influence in my students' lives by opening their minds to new ideas and constructing knowledge that will be beneficial to them. Education is the stepping stone to their future and it's my goal to help them create that path of lifelong learning."

In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
